About
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
Stories in History was created out of a simple belief: history should be meaningful, engaging, and honest—without telling children what to think or believe. As a homeschool parent and curriculum writer, I wanted lessons that were literature-rich, flexible for families, and rooted in real stories that spark curiosity. When I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for, I began creating it myself. That’s how Stories in History was born.
Our Approach
Stories in History is a secular homeschool curriculum designed for families who want academically solid, developmentally appropriate lessons that also leave room for deeper conversations at home. I strive to present history in a way that is balanced, nuanced, and accessible for all learners.
A core part of this mission is including diverse perspectives throughout every course. History is not one-sided—and neither are the people who lived it. For example, in my California History curriculum, students read accounts from both Native American communities and Spanish/Catholic missionaries during the Mission period. Students are then invited to think critically and write an opinion piece on whether the missions did more harm or good to Native peoples.
This is the heart of what I hope to accomplish:
present the facts, give students tools to think deeply, and create opportunities for families to have meaningful conversations together.
What We Believe
I believe history is complicated because people are complicated. Rarely are there clear “good guys” or “bad guys”—just humans who made choices that affected others, sometimes in positive ways and sometimes in harmful ones, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
Because of this, my goal is not to tell your children how to think.
My goal is to help them learn to think.
