Social studies standards are guidelines created by each state to outline what students typically learn about history, geography, government, and culture. They’re usually based on national frameworks—like the C3 Framework—and approved by state education boards.

For homeschool families, these standards are simply a roadmap- not a rulebook. They show what public schools teach, but you’re free to cover these topics in ways that fit your child and your family.
