Help students understand the concept of past, present, and future with this engaging My Personal Timeline Project! Designed for 1st and 2nd graders, this activity combines history, sequencing, fine motor skills, and family connections into one meaningful project.

Students will create a foldable trifold timeline featuring 10 events from their past and 1 future milestone they hope to achieve. Along the way, they’ll practice writing dates, cutting, sequencing, and even adding family photos for a personal touch.

What’s Included:

  • Printable 3-page timeline (8.5” x 11”)
  • 11 milestone event boxes (10 past, 1 future)
  • Teacher/parent instructions with tips (including sticker paper option!)
  • Circles for adding small family photos

How It Works:

  1. Print the 3-page timeline and connect it with tape to make a foldable trifold.
  2. Write the dates for each event (kids can trace or write independently).
  3. Cut out each event box.
  4. Glue in chronological order on the timeline, ending with the “future” event.
  5. Add family pictures to personalize the project.

Skills & Standards Covered:

  • Sequencing events in order (History/Social Studies Standard: K–2)
  • Writing dates (Language Arts CCSS L.1.2c)
  • Understanding past, present, and future (1st Grade Social Studies Standard 1.1)
  • Strengthening fine motor skills (cutting & gluing)

This makes a wonderful introductory social studies project, perfect for homeschool, classroom centers, or a family keepsake!
