Ellis Island Immigration- Interview
Couldn't load pickup availability
This activity is about immigration during the Progressive Era (1900-1915) when Ellis Island welcomed millions of immigrants.
Students will learn about where the majority of immigrants came from during this time and why (what was happening in those countries to cause them to leave).
Then, they will use the Immigration Story Interview questions to interview a friend or family member who has immigrated to America. This could also be a 2nd generation immigrant. The goal is to understand their journey and why they came to America.
Finally, students will complete a single-page report (template provided) based on that interview.
This activity is meant to honor everyone's story in a thoughtful way, while staying free of political opinions.
Homeschool or Classroom use.
